David

Please take a minute to listen to this version of our National Anthem.

Today in church we had 2 women speak. The first sister has had a military life. Her father was in the service, and then her husband, and now 2 of her 3 boys. It was neat to hear her feelings and some of the experiences her "men" have had while at war. It made me proud of my family that has fought for our freedom.
The second sister spoke about home life during the wars. She spoke of the Great Depression, and rationing. 5 lbs. of sugar a month, 20 gal of gas a month, no nylon stockings (I could live without those). But she expressed concern about our lives now. Our children think they are going without if they don't have the newest game or CD or whatever. We feel deprived when our cell phone battery dies, or our TV doesn't work. It made me grateful for my blessings.

I titled this entry "David". My brother is currently in Iraq. I am so proud of him. I see him on facebook, and he emails me, so I know he is OK. But, I want to tell him thank you. He and his family are sacrificing right now so that we can be free. Men and Women are fighting for our country, and yet we scarcely give them a thought. I am so proud of my brother, father, grandfather, uncles, brother-in-laws and friends who have served for me. I thank them for their sacrifice.
I am proud to be an American. And I am proud to live in "The land of the free, and the home of the brave."
